Can you be pregnant and win a Pageant? Mrs. United States did and I ask her how!

YES! The answer is yes! You can and Caitlyn won MRS United States 2020 while pregnant with twins!

Caitlyn Schollmeier is a veteran of the United States Air Force, Licensed Nurse, Doula, and reigning Mrs. United States - 2020. She has a BA in Human Development, and will be attending graduate school to become a Certified Nurse Midwife. She has been married to her husband Matt for 6 wonderful years and is a mother to twins. Babies Eli and Luke were born in January of 2021, less than half way through her reign as Mrs. United States.  

Caitlyn feels that a major source of her own personal growth has come from engaging with her passion that involves empowering and supporting women. Caitlyn has spent the entirety of her adult life promoting and advancing the interests of women by advocating for more respectful and equitable treatment of women and mothers in the health care setting and broader community. 

In the military she worked as a medic in Women’s Health Clinics and Labor and Delivery units around the world where she learned the tenets of respect and ethical treatment from some of the most thoughtful and empathetic maternal health providers in the field. 

While she has witnessed the most beautiful parts of the childbirth experience, she is also deeply saddened by the ugly birth experiences that exist due to widespread and deeply ingrained flaws in the U.S. maternal health system. Her passion and platform revolves around healing the broken parts of this system, and her first step in doing so is by spreading education and awareness on the topic.
